Sedona has spent the winter in Maasbracht, Netherlands having undergone serious TLC. She will be launched on July 18th and remain in the local area until July 31st. She will then move to Maasenroer Marina in Roermond while the owners fly to London, returning August 6th. Next on her agenda is a sail to Venlo, some 30kM north of Roermond for Venlo’s summer park party.

On August 12th, she will sail up the River Meuse from the Netherlands, through Belgium and into France. She will remain on the Meuse until early October when she will sail back through Belgium to the River Sambre at Namur and then back into France to her winter storage location at Hautmont.

Biography

Barbara and Richard Heywood retired and set sail from Hampton Virginia aboard their yacht Breakaway in November 1997.  They sailed across the Caribbean, through the Panama Canal and across the Pacific Ocean to New Zealand.  A slight detour took them to Guam en-route to Australia before sailing through Indonesia and Malaysia to Thailand.  After three years in Thailand, they sailed across the Indian Ocean to the Red Sea and then through the Suez Canal to the Mediterranean staying in Turkey for eight years and then Greece for two more.  Finally, age ( of the boat ) got the better of them and they sold Breakaway in 2018.  “She became too big and too heavy for two old people”.  In total, they sailed over 50,000 miles.

In 2020, they bought Sedona, a Linssen Dutch Steel Cruiser with the intention of sailing the inland waterways of Europe.  Covid-19 had other ideas and so the inland waterways had to wait.  In 2022, they restarted cruising in a refined and relaxed style.Barbara and Richard Heywood retired and set sail from Hampton Virginia aboard their yacht Breakaway in November 1997.
